Il Roero Arneis

Arneis is a white wine grown in the Piedmont Region of North West Italy. The main production area is across the river Tannaro from the Barolo area and is often referred to as the ‘White Barolo’. This wine is given a short cold maceration and then matured on its lees in stainless steel, subjected to regular lees stirring.

The resulting wine is pale straw yellow in colour, with a delicate floral nose of scents of white flowers. Also there are citrus and stone fruit notes of apple, white peach and a touch of hazelnut. In the mouth it is dry and crisp with high but a well-balanced acidity.

It is excellent served as an aperitif or with fresh cheeses and dishes based on fish and shellfish. It is equally good with light pasta dishes and white meats. Its characteristic freshness combine well with blanched peppers seasoned with anchovies and salted capers.
