Il Nebbiolo
Nebbiolo is the grape variety behind the top quality wines of Piedmont, North West Italy. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks and maturing is carried out using different sized Slavonia oak barrels for 30 months before being bottled. The wine must be aged for a total of 38 months after harvest before release.
The wine is characteristically distinguished by its strong tannins, high acidity and distinctive nose: this is no exception. It is well structured, powerful and elegant with well tamed silky tannins and noticeable acidic presence. This Nebbiolo is a bright red garnet colour and wonderful nose of ripe red berry fruits. There are some spicy notes and a hint of balsamic with a long pleasant finish. It can be drunk now but has the potential for ageing.
As a full bodied powerful wine it is well suited to main courses such a red meat, game and matured cheeses.
