Traminer delle Dolomiti
The Gewurztraminer is a variety that produces some of the world’s most distinctive aromatic wines. The vineyards are 25-35 years old and are on a west facing exposure in the Trentino valley at altitudes of between 330-390m. Gewurztraminer is famous for its intense floral scent and sweet spice flavours combined with a low acidity.
The time of harvest is key to ensure that there is sufficient acidity remaining to provide the required body and balance. The wine colour is a bright straw yellow; the nose reveals citrus notes of grapefruit, lemon grass and lime, as well as hints of tropical fruits particularly passion fruit. On the palate the wine is supported by an initially sharp citrusy acidity, which is balanced by the tropical fruits and discreet alcohol warmth.
This Gewurztraminer is a fresh and easy to drink wine, excellent as an aperitif. It matches well with a seafood risotto or alternatively, a winning combination with sea bass cooked in sea salt.
