This wine from the Lazio Region in Central Italy is a 50/50% blend of Cabernet Franc & Merlot grapes, typical of the grape type used in the St Emillion area of Bordeaux. The vineyard is organic. The blend combines Merlots dry juicy fruits with the herbal aromas and structure of the Cabernet Franc. Fermentation is carried out in stainless steel tanks, while the post fermenting ageing is done in oak barrels for 10 months before bottling.
The wine has a ruby red colour, with some with garnet reflections. The nose reveals aromas of small red-fleshed fruit, accompanied by fresh vegetal notes, some hints of liquorice, balsamic and toast. It has a pleasant mouth grip from the tannin, but is clean, with a sound medium body. The final fruity notes linger with a pleasant, persistent finish.
This is a very attractive wine and is capable of versatile matching across a wide variety of food types, a perfect accompaniment for pasta and meat dishes.
